Our Story

Mabuja Labs was born from a deep love of nature, science, and the belief that what you put on your skin matters just as much as what you put in your body.

Our founder, Alida Kaburundi, grew up in Burundi, a small but beautiful country in central-east Africa — a place rich in natural botanicals and a culture that has long understood the power of plants. That upbringing planted a seed of curiosity about the natural world that never stopped growing.

From Burundi to the Lab

Alida pursued her passion for science with a Bachelor's degree in Applied Biotechnology Sciences, followed by a Master's in Business Administration in Pharmaceutical Management. She then trained at Formula Botanica, the award-winning online academy for organic and natural cosmetics formulation — one of the most respected institutions in the clean beauty world.

In July 2019, Alida founded Mabuja Labs in Ottawa, Canada, bringing together her African heritage, her scientific expertise, and her entrepreneurial spirit to create something truly unique.
